English Rain Barrel

Saturday, June 20, 2015

I've always wanted to find an English rain barrel.  My eyes
are always peeled at every antique mall or estate sale.
I have often looked at this picture above as my inspiration.
Today I finally found one at an estate sale
in the Tulsa area.

Not sure exactly where I'm going to put it but I'm sure I'll find the perfect
spot once I have moved it all over the garden.
It had been sitting in water - once I let it sit out in the sun the
dark moisture stain went away.
I'd sure love to know it's true history -always wondering whose
garden in England did it serve as a
rain barrel 50 years ago?
I'm glad it's found a resting place in my garden.
I will see it and remember that my mother bought it for me as an early birthday gift.
Thank you, Mother.

  1. Hi Beth! I found you via Sarah through Facebook some time back and this is my first time commenting even though I have enjoyed reading all your posts. :) Sarah, Lauren and I are sorority sisters! Anyway, so funny you posted about the rain barrel. Did you find it at John Brooks Walton's estate sale? If so, I eyed that baby and wanted to take it home but couldn't bite the bullet with the price tag it had on the first day of the sale. Can't wait to see what you do with it! It is such a great piece!

    1. Hi Ashlee! I've only had two people comment on my blog so I should give you a plant just for commenting! So fun. Yes, I found the rain barrel at the JBW estate sale. Allen has a lot of sales coming up in the next few weeks - all will be really good. Maybe one day I can meet you at an estate sale :)

  2. Hi, Found your blog at "Red Dirt Ramblings" blog. Love it! I love your new barrel...I've always known of these as Dolly Tubs haven't found any that fit my budget, except on ebay uk but then the shipping kills. Oh well...when it's time.
